KS2 Maths

At this level, we believe that mathematics should be taught with a fun approach - that's why we have specialist KS2 tutors delivering this subject with a range of differentiated activities that suit every individual child. Maths can be a real hurdle in young peoples academic careers and we at David's Physics & Maths tutoring accept that some students at this age require more than classroom teaching. One-to-one teaching can build so much confidence within this subject in young people, forming a sturdy base from which they gain fluency and begin to formulate for themselves, the fundamentals required for a conceptual understanding of this subject.

KS3 Maths & Science

Pupils in England at year 7 will have undertaken a series of examinations [SATs] whereby they are tested rigorously in Maths & English subject areas. The tests are demanding - but the pupils step up to this challenge and perform well. The results of these tests usually determine the setting/streaming at KS3 [across all subjects]. Pupils are expected to attain a GCSE grade based on their KS2 year 6 SAT score - and in some cases, some pupils may feel a bit out of their depth, in certain subjects. Some subjects [in some schools], E.g. Science, Maths can begin teaching GCSE courses as early as Year 9. Tutoring 1 to 1 or extra classes can help build pupil confidence and give further accessibility to exam success.

KS4 KS5 Physics & Maths

Physics and Maths at KS4 & KS5 are probably the two most demanding subjects for young people at this stage in their academic career. Studying Physics & Maths develops critical thinking and problem solving skills. These two subjects work well in opening opportunities for future careers. However, in my experience, teaching Physics and Maths for many years, from KS3 up to A Level - pupils invariably require support and guidance throughout their GCSE and A Level years. We offer full support, in terms of online 1-to-1, in person 1-to-1 and also offer small classes on a Saturday morning. In addition, pupils can drop in on a zoom call for around 15 minutes [free of charge] after the tutoring sessions [availability dependent] - help with their school set homework/help with tasks that have been set from me etc.. Ultimately we are here to support, guide and provide pupils with as much information and confidence, offering them full accessibility to exam questions at GCSE & A Level.
